2021 Australian Swimming Trials

June 18, 2021

An exhilarating week of swimming, capped off by some amazing performances from our swimmers

What an amazing week it was. We had 8 swimmers qualifying for these trials: Baden Coxsedge, Liam Laidlaw, Will Middleton, Ray Oo, Adam Selwood, Johann Stickland, Lushavel Stickland and Luka Zubcic. Each of these swimmers must be commended for their efforts. It is no easy feat to achieve an Australian trials qualifying time, and the club is proud of each of them.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 3 swimmers made it across the border to SA before the border closed: Liam Laidlaw, Adam Selwood and Luka Zubcic.

Having to spend almost 5 weeks away from home, missing their families and their team mates, was a tough experience. However, it is to Seb Bettiol's credit that he was able to bring out the best in these swimmers.

Each produced significant PBs. In the 100FR, Liam produced a PB, improving his ranking from 78th to 53rd. Luka PB'd in both his 100FR and 50FR. In the 50FR, he produced a time of 22.78, earning him a place in the B Final. Adam produced a PB in his 200BR, 2.15.44, securing him a place in the A Final, where he finished 7th.

Seb and our swimmers represented our Club with determination, resilience and integrity. Congratulations to all.
