Victorian Sprint Championships 2022

January 17, 2022

A long awaited return to state level racing produced some great WMP team results

A big two days for Western Melbourne Propulsion at Swimming Victoria's State Sprint Championships for 2022!

On Saturday, Anna Yestekhin, Rose Vaughan and Sienna Scodella represented the club with all 3 girls swimming some excellent PB's and Anna placing 9th in the Girls 13yo 50m Breast and 6th in the 50m Free.

A big congratulations to our older swimmers who represented the club on Sunday. Dayna Barnett, Owen Cheung, Ahmed Elgammal, Chloe King, Nicholas Layton, Coco Moore, Luke Panknin, Ejaz Rumboll and Sam Scodella. We had some excellent PB's, with Nicholas achieving 1st in the Men 19&O 50m Fly and 3rd in the 50m Free.

To finish off a great 2 days of racing, our two 4x50 freestyle relay teams both swam incredibly well. In our A team, Owen shaved further time off his PB from only an hour earlier in the day, Coco swam her first sub 30 for her leg and Ahmed swam his first sub-27 as anchor for the team to drop a total of 2.60 seconds from their entry time. Similarly, in our B team, Sam shaved time off his PB from earlier in the day, with Luke finishing with his first sub-27 as anchor for the team to drop 0.54 seconds from their entry time!

We'd also like to say a big thank you to Daniel Panknin who stepped up to assist another relay team which unfortunately wasn't able to swim. Congratulations as well to James Hay, Joshua Hume, Oliver Salmon and Laura Stevenson who all qualified for the event but were unable to swim.

How great is it to be back in competition!
